Puzzling response to 'search position' on Senseis Library
The stones illustrated in response to a position search at Sensei's Library sometimes show as BOTH black and white. I am confused as to what a white stone response refers to when the position query is asking for a black stone response. I would very much appreciate enlightenment. Fred

Why not ask on Senseis Library?ephriam22 wrote:The stones illustrated in response to a position search at Sensei's Library sometimes show as BOTH black and white. Are you saying that the stone colors are mixed up in the same diagram? That's definitely weird.ephriam22 wrote:The stones illustrated in response to a position search at Sensei's Library sometimes show as BOTH black and white. Or are the stone colors the opposite in different diagrams? That sounds like what is intended.

You might ask in Quick Questions. ( https://senseis.xmp.net/?QuickQuestions )ephriam22 wrote:I've tried to find a link or something to do that to no avail. Missing something obviously.

Thanks for your response Bill. The stone responses I refer to are not in a diagram but are shown under the query diagram with numbers that I think are instances or proportions of use. Also, thanks for the search link which I did not see before. Fred

Are you talking about wildcards?ephriam22 wrote:Thanks for your response Bill. The stone responses I refer to are not in a diagram but are shown under the query diagram with numbers that I think are instances or proportions of use. Also, thanks for the search link which I did not see before. Fred
Anyway, this page may help: https://senseis.xmp.net/?FindPositionPage

The position search at Sensei's Library does not have the concept op asking for a certain color response. It will always report on both black and white follow-up moves from the searched position.ephriam22 wrote:I am confused as to what a white stone response refers to when the position query is asking for a black stone response.
