Should pop-ups for PMs be enabled by default?

Doesn't really matter to me, since I can set my own preferences easily enough. But the '1 new message' stands out to my eye, so I'll be setting mine to 'no'.

I prefer having no popups by default, because some people don't like popup windows, and it could turn them off to the site. And for people that do like popups, the option is there.

As far as I know, you receive an email when somebody gives you a PM anyway (I did, at least), which seems more than enough to indicate that you've gotten a message.

I voted yes, because that's how most sites do it, and it's easy to turn off if you don't like them. (To be honest, though, I only have it turned on for my account because my pop-up blocker catches them, so I see a "pop-up blocked" banner rather than an actual pop-up.)

I voted no, since pop-ups in general annoy people, so would be better as an opt in rather than opt out.

Pop-ups should never be enabled by default for any feature on any web page for any reason unless there is a life-and-death reason that they should be.

Definitely NO. They are annoying, especially when you have the option to change the setting yourself.
