@Joaz
Not really sure what you mean. What is a pin?

Hi Kirby,
The knight is pinned: if it moves, :white: loses the rook.

Two more pinned knights, from online search:

Thanks, Ed.

In that case, @Joaz:
I didn't see any sort of pin coming. My strategy was just that I wanted to threaten going to h6. I suppose it doesn't have much meaning.

My move: Nc3

If Kirby moves his bishop, take the queen with the rook, if he don't move, take the bishop (after that, it depend on what other piece white moved)

There's a lot of pressure building here on the bishop and something is about to happen. Initially, I thought this was knight move was a good move because it threatened to trade my knight for his bishop (the bishop being pinned still and unable to escape). While this is true, I played out a bunch of variations and realized that, while this is a potential result and he can ensure an even trade with the right moves, the wrong moves will lead to a worse result, because of the threatened fork of the Queen and King if I move my knight to F3. I've made a 'study' on lichess showing these variations. I haven't done this before, but hopefully folks without a lichess account can view it and see the variations.

My prediction.

Kirby will move his queen to c2, to protect both the bishop and pawn on c3. Then there will be exchanges of bishop, knight, and two rooks on d3, followed by Rd8, and, after Kirby moves his queen, e5.

In some ways, I wanna finish this game up so that I can get back to focusing on go.

Well, he avoided the fork! And the apparent pin of the knight is nice. But unless I'm missing some way that this puts my Queen in serious trouble, I think I'm up another pawn.

Maybe I will regret this, but this capture threatens his queen, so whatever he's cooking up with the kingside pawn push is going to have to wait until he gets his Queen out of trouble.

W has collapsed. Knight capture F2 pawn might be a fun way to finish.
