how to stop being tired
This question is for older folks, I guess. As I've gotten older, I seem to be tired more often.
Any tips?
Sleeping more seems obvious, though, I get insomnia from time to time, too.
So far my list of todos is to sleep more and exercise more.
Any other ideas?

to really drink a lot of green tea helps me a lot, i like sencha and matcha and to make it overdosed and really strong helps a lot
it provides you with caffeine much longer than coffee, wich gives you a shorter and maybe a bit more intense caffeine-high, wich will fade much to fast ... with green tea you can stay awake much better and have longer go sessions

Re: how to stop being tired
Regular exercise is the big one for me. I think part of it is just convincing my body that it is made to be doing stuff by default rather than not doing stuff. I am an early riser (especially during the summer) and often hit a really big lull at 3pm or so (afternoon meetings at work are the worst). If I am already doing something I can usually power through, but if I have the option to do something or not (e.g., play one more round of a tournament) it can be hard to push myself to keep going.
I try not to drink caffeine after noon, because I think it makes my nightly sleep worse. Naps can help refresh me but they sort of seem like part of the problem rather than part of the solution...

On his 60th birthday Jack LaLanne towed a 1,000 pound boat in San Francisco Bay, from Alcatraz to Fisherman's Wharf. An inspiration to us all.

According to an viewtopic.php?p=227710#p227710, you are not really old, getting enough sleep and exercise (of any kind) should be enough for you.Kirby wrote:This question is for older folks, I guess. As I've gotten older, I seem to be tired more often.
If you usually don't feel good when you wake up in the morning:
- Stretch your muscles before going to sleep.
- When you wake up, stretch again your muscles, especially the back and the legs, and do some (light) "warm-up" kind of exercise. If possible, work on all your joints.
- Even better, do some qigong exercises if you know some.

Re: how to stop being tired
There is some good advice in the previous post. Hopefully, it can be so easily fixed. But if this doesn’t solve the problem, you should talk to your doctor. There are a number of common medical conditions that emerge over time that can generate these symptoms — sleep apnea, for example. You’ve also described some stressful family conditions that could be to blame. Your regular doctor should be able to offer some guidance and if appropriate, will refer you to the proper specialist. Same goes for the insomnia.
Being tired all the time is awful. I hope things improve.

Re: how to stop being tired
I set an alarm for 21:00 every evening. That's my cutoff for screen time, and a signal to start my evening routine.
I don't always follow it, but I do think it really helps. It's unrealistic to think you can go directly from watching bright and rapidly-shifting LEDs to sleep. If you can stand it, keep your phone somewhere away from your bed.

Re: how to stop being tired
that happened to me in my mid/late 30's, 5 years later still tired.
set my expectations lower helps a little.
trying to build good habits, healthy eating, exercise, meditation, enjoy nature. but still tired.
emotional baggage/stress can take its toll without realising.
i guess just accept it and be thankfull for the lesson

Re: how to stop being tired
With exercise, I strongly recommend lifting weights. It's really good fun. Starting Strength is a good book to teach you the basics if you've not lifted before.
I aim to lift 3 times a week, and I'm generally not too far off from that.

Re: how to stop being tired
It depends on what you do of course. Myself I can be pretty tired the day after a 3h table tennis training and then going out with a friend and have a few beers until 2 AM. I'm in my forties and I don't handle those nights too well anymore, not like in my twenties.
I'm a good sleeper. The key for me not to get too tired is to go to bed.
Recently, I've started losing weight. Eat less, exercise more - would you believe it? It affects the sleeping pattern, in the sense that I force myself to go to bed earlier, lest I start eating junk late at night. So I wake up earlier too. The regularity has positively affected my night's rest.
But then very recently, I seem to have fallen for that well known issue men tend to get when they grow older. You know, waking up in the middle of the night and then stumbling into the bathroom ...
My brother in law had a lot of difficulty sleeping/resting. He's my age. He forced himself to go to bed at the exact same hour very night and wake up in the morning at the same regular hour, even in the weekends. That fixed it for him.
