Hi, my name is Phil. I’m in my 50’s and am a computer programmer.
I’ve tried learning Go a few times, and never succeeded. I read a few books, play through the explanations of life and death etc. Then I get onto a Go server, and am mercilessly thrashed by a six-year-old.
This time, I’ve found a club, and hope to be able to get along every week or two, so if there is someone there with absolutely heroic levels of patience, maybe I’ll get somewhere...?

Re: Hello from Manchester, UK
Great to read this Phil!
I assume you're referring to our Manchester go club? The club is in a good place at the moment I think - there are a broad range of players with different levels of experience. I'm sure all the players will be pleased to encourage and/or help out a new player.
