Is the move at c (in the first diagram) therefore an interesting choice in this joseki?

Cannot comment technically. However this move appears once recently in a professional game.

It looked to me on first glance like on of those complicated fighting variations that say, 'Pro level only. Do not try at home' :lol:.

While I avoided fighting in the past like the plague,
I dont miss a brawl in these days.
