First I should clarify that only AGA chapters can vote, your club contact should have gotten an email.
I'm writing to ask if there is any more out there about the candidates and their positions etc. Particularly the Eastern region is disputed but neither candidate has a link to their platform. Central region is the other disputed region but at least 2 of the 3 candidates have something written.

Re: 2010 AGA Board Election
Hmm, I can't say in the east as I don't know the other guy running. In the central region though, I can heartily recommend Lisa Scott. She is extremely intelligent, hard-working, creative, and I think quite flexible. She is also young and full of energy, I think she would be an excellent board member. She would join Laura Kolb, and be the second woman on the board - which I think would be great. Polly Pohl is secretary, but I don't believe she gets to vote. She takes amazing board minutes though...

I'm not sure what else I can say that would be of general interest, but I'm happy to answer questions if people have them...

Re: 2010 AGA Board Election
I am no longer an AGA member but I personally know both the people running in the Eastern region. In fact, I think I played both of them in the last tournament I ever entered, about five years ago.
Chuck Robbins has been around for ever it seems. He is hard-working and has done a lot for the AGA over the years and deserves a lot of gratitude for that work. However, in my opinion, he has been around for too long and is somewhat inflexible.
Andrew Jackson is much younger and is still enthusiatic. He started the Blacksburg go club while an undergraduate at Virginia Tech several years ago and has been active in the eastern region ever since. I think he will bring new, fresh ideas to the board and deserves a chance.

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Election returns are in
Congratulations to Lisa Scott, new Central Region board member for the AGA. She won a convincing victory over incumbent Roy Schmidt and our forum local, Daniel Smith. Daniel, condolences, but you deserve plaudits just for running. In my opinion it's a tragedy you didn't go for the At-Large spot; I think you would have been great.
In the other contested election (Eastern Region), incumbent Chuck Robbins edged out Andrew Jackson by just three votes in a heartbreaker. Next year, I hope.

Re: 2010 AGA Board Election
Yes, congrats to Lisa, who I'm sure will do a great job.
Pwaldron, if I'd known Lisa would be running, I would have considered it-- but I can't imagine people picking me over Jie Li. But thanks for the kind words.
(my consolation prize is that I'm 4-0 as a 1d in the open...)
