My 15th and 16th go books are published today:

Endgame 3 - Accurate Local Evaluation

The book distinguishes local gote from sente endgames objectively and evaluates local endgames accurately. Even for long local sequences, we determine the right moments of playing elsewhere.

256 pages, EUR 26.50 (book), EUR 13.25 (PDF file).

Endgame Problems 1

The book has 150 problems, of which 20 are new tactical problems on the 11x11 board and 130 are evaluation problems. Their detailed and correct answers calculate the counts, move values and, if necessary, gains of the initial local endgame and every follow-up position. The applied theory is explained.

252 pages, EUR 26.50 (book), EUR 13.25 (PDF file).

I think endgame problems 2 will be interesting if there are many problems like today.

The current draft of the book Endgame Problems 2 has these tentative chapters with roughly the stated numbers of problems:

Rooms 26 (similar to Problem 73 and the shapes in Mathematical Go Endgames but using my value calculations according to Endgame 2 - Values and Endgame 3 - Accurate Local Evaluation), Corner Ko 19, Sente and Gote Options 18, Second Line Reduction 13, Basic Shapes with Long Sequences 7, Comparing the Opponent's Branches 7, Joseki Follow-ups 7, Capture - Recapture 6, Edge Reduction with Ko 5, Throw-in 4, Stage Kos 4, Hyperactive Ko 4, Two First Line Turns 3, Fake Sente 2.

Furthermore, there is an unsorted heap of additional problems, of which I will distribute some to the chapters. I have more material than can fit in one book. Besides, I do not know yet when I complete Volume 2. I am writing a few other books at the moment.

Please let me know your opinion on the explanations and presentation of the answers to the problems in Endgame Problems 1. If desired, I might change Volume 2 a bit. Due to the often longer calculations with more iterative steps, this will be necessary anyway so that readers can follow them more easily. Longer texts mean fewer problems though.

I am reader endgame 2 and problems 1 and to me it is clear enough. I will not say to put less explanation but but just enough to understand. If you feel it is necessary I will read it. Your books apoened a new interest it the endgame to me so I have now complain.
The only thing I can say is I love to solve problems so if problems 2 contain a lot it is good enough to me.

Let me propose an other position which is very simple and very very common but however not that easy to evaluate due to the existence of a future ko:

It is an exaggeration to call such positions "very simple". For a similar position, see Endgame 3 - Accurate Local Evaluation, pp. 176-179, Example 4 and p. 155f, Answers 1+2. The explanation covers circa 4 printing pages. In your example, the asymmetric shape might not be easier.
