Your XKCD Top Ten ?

Post by Loons »

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume there are XKCD fans reading this. Here's my top 10 favorites;

Velociraptors!
Words that End in GRY
Cat Proximity
The Difference
Floor Tiles
Escalators
Success
Cuttlefish
Tech Support Cheat Sheet
A-Minus-Minus

Though I'm not confident in any / all of them. I still think that the notoriety as ninja turtle vs renaissance artist one needs to be in there somewhere.

Also my list is pretty old, so newer comics weren't in the running.

Which're yours ?

(Edit: actually, this list was the result of weeks of laborious consideration after going through the whole archive, I can sympathize with not producing one on the spot)

The trouble with this question is it makes me feel the need to reread the entire archive to check ...

So, I'll come back and edit the thread later when I have, but I know that three of my top ten are:
Tech Support Cheat Sheet (Really works! I mean, seriously, my mother uses it herself and asks me fewer questions, and uses it to help her friends.)
With Apologies to Robert Frost
Complicated (I don't know why, really, but it just tickles me completely.)

I'm just going back to the archive; I may be some time.

I've got one favorite: Duty Calls.

It describes the stress I get from the Internet pretty well.

Nerd Sniping I'd fall for that.
Substitute My favorite raptor one
A bunch of rocks
Too lazy to go over the archive [again], so some of my favs are probably missing.

The one I always think of (especially when on KGS or forums) is also Duty Calls. Most needed comic ever.

I do really enjoy "A Bunch of Rocks, and "With Apologies to Robert Frost",

Some others I've found quite amusing -

Flow Charts
The Difference

And for some reason I am terribly amused about any of the comics that refer to statistics and everyday life (though that's too many to list here).

One that he did that isn't on the XKCD site to my knowledge, but I thought was hilarious was his comic "1999"

Of course all my friends who were in CS loved the "Ballmer Peak".

I have pasted the link to "Pix Plz" several times while kibbitzing on KGS.

I second Floor Tiles, Cat Proximity and Duty Calls.

A-Minus-Minus sends me into uncontrollable giggles every time I read it.

Secretary Part 3 has precisely one good panel, the one about 9/11 truthers.

Edit #1: Let's add Correlation.

I've sent this one to a coworker to caution him against passing user input directly to MySQL. Parametrize those queries!

So many awesome comics.

"Oh, yes. Little Bobby Tables, we call him."

And the Nerd Sniping one...actually had a coworker never make it to the punch line of that comic because he got nerd sniped.

Here are a couple favorites of mine, dealing with an awesome programming language:
Python
New Pet

Can't believe I forgot about that one. I think I'm with Marcus on this one.

And I don't know how many places this is posted up on the cubicle walls at work. :D

I forgot about this one: http://xkcd.com/378/

What cracks me up more than the comic is that I can really picture some of my fellow classmates from college talking like this.
