2020 Chinese Women's A League

Post by silviu22 »

It looks like it started July 28th and they played 4 games already. They seem to play a game each day?

I noticed it by chance looking at some players' games. I noticed Zhou Hongyu dropped from #5 to #7 in women's rakings. She did very well last year (see this thread here 2019 Chinese Women's A League, but this year she lost 4 games in a row (thus the ranking drop).

But Wu Yimming (now 2p, 2935), the 13-year old prodigy from China won 4 games in a row, including against #3 in the world, Kim Cheayoung 5p (3241). After losing to Wu, Kim defeated women's #1 Choi Jeong (9p, 3391). If I remember correctly, Wu lost almost all games last year. One year seems to have made an amazing difference for her.

So it looks like there are big changes in women's games. I don't know Chinese, so I can't tell what is happening in the other games.
