I think that with the better video card options, it would be pretty damned good.
Caveat -it should work great today, but Apple has deprecated OpenCL, meaning no support to the ML / graphics card abilities, so changes to either the go apps or MacOS might break everything.

I doubt any go programs will care about your screen size. I run Lizzie on a 2015 MacBook Pro, I had to compile LZ myself with homebrew, I only got CPU version working but didn't put much effort into solving the problems with GPu version as I had a windows PC with a GPU at home for deeper analysis.

Uberdude: the 16" was just released, and has different internals than the 13" and 15" models (which were last updated in May). It's not just screen size, so it's reasonable to ask.

It would be interesting to know if Apple will ever use nvidia rtx mobile gpus with downsampling.hyperpape wrote:Uberdude: the 16" was just released, and has different internals than the 13" and 15" models (which were last updated in May). It's not just screen size, so it's reasonable to ask.
How fast is Leela on the new MacBook Pro or on the old ones?
And how fast is it compared to other notebooks or desktop pcs?

You can play on www.online-go.com against bots and the occasional strong dan player using your browser.

Works fine with the OpenCL (GPU) backend.Marcel Grünauer wrote:Did you find out whether KataGo works with the Radeon Pro 5300M or 5500M?
I benchmarked it and found optimal numSearchThreads was 8, rather than the 6 default.

Locally, leela-zero and katago are both available choices.
