Tanguy Le Calvé recent games

Post by Ferran »

Just thought worth mentioning that Tanguy Le Calvé, 1p, seems to have upped his game recently. Besides his recent defeat (during yose, AFAIK) against Artem Kachanovskyi 2p at the European Grand Prix, his score in the Pro League has increased considerably. As in...

1st League, 6th and last place, 2 games won out of 10 (one of the against Ilya Shikshin, I'll grant).
2nd League, 7th and last place, 4 games won out of 15.
3rd League, ongoing, looks like he'll make 2nd. He's next against Ilya, but he's won his games against Artem, Ali Jabarin 2p and 2o3 against Andrii Kravets 1p.

Now, he might tie with both Artem and Pavol Lisy 2p, I think, on SODOS, but still... I'd say it's impressive.

Take care.

Since rankings are a popular yardstick (especially in chess and go) I feel compelled to add that although we see progress through the advance in the rankings, we actually don't know anthing about the progress in his go playing skills by just looking at these rankings. (IE rankings measure progress not skill.)
