ppt intro to Go maths

Post by dhu163 »

I've written up a 7 slide intro to Go maths for those with a mathematical inclination (high school - uni - beyond) and some Go knowledge. It covers connections to different parts of maths, sorts of problems in Go, with a case study of board evaluation, inspired by Bill Spight.

My word of the year is 度 du4.

It normally means degree (temperature), or measure.

In Go, it normally means "reasonable extent". A strategy or move is said to have "度" if it has good balance between trying to take the opponent's territory and making territory and development of its own. It is normally in contrast to playing too deep or too aggressively.

Everybody not opening PPTX files due to missing viewer or security concerns should use some online converter to, e.g., PDF, such as https://online-umwandeln.de/
