One of our members, xed_over has, sadly, passed away after a three and a half year battle with cancer.
I'm not great at dealing with death, but I wanted to pay homage to Dennis. In addition to being a member of this forum, Dennis was an active game recorder at a number of AGA go tournaments, including several US Go Congresses. He was an active member of the Seattle Go Center, as well as a big help to the E-Journal. I remember often seeing Dennis from a distance at a US Go Congress, watching as he replayed a game that he had recorded for the e-journal. A few times, I sat down to review the game with him.
Above all, Dennis was a great guy. He had a humble attitude, and was always enthusiastic about go. I am sorry he had to suffer with a disease like he did. I will miss him a lot.

Re: Dennis Wheeler
Sad news. I read through a lot of posts of his on Facebook recently, it was upsetting to see him suffering, but you felt a kind of stoic attitude from him.

Re: Dennis Wheeler
I didn't know him in person but I remembered the nickname here. Sad to hear he has gone and needed to suffer too. My condolences to those who knew him and to his family on behalf of the community.

Re: Dennis Wheeler
From the admin's POV, Xed_over was a consistent contributor who, TTBOMR, never caused any problems. We will miss him.
That means that we now have to teach the game to about 100 more newcomers just to get one replacement.

Re: Dennis Wheeler
Dennis was reliably steady as a game recorder, and he was quietly valuable solving behind the scenes technical problems. I don't think I ever saw him in a bad mood.
He will definitely be missed.
