& from a diy perspective it doesn't look too strong - should have used 1" shin kaya at least, obviously. Thanks for sharing though. :D

I assume you're joking, thicker boards on the sides makes a (small) difference, on the back none

How could you?! You cut a board to play into pieces! T.T

hehe, my thoughts exactly.

It reminded me of the Hikaru episode where the rude mayor puts a glass on a go board, and is frowned upon for disrespecting the game.
Imagine what they would say about cutting a board in pieces...

Now you will feel the wrath of the Go gods, and be doomed to loose all your games from now on

----------
You should glue some go stones on the side, to make it look like (half) a game in progress. I think that will look neat. ;-)

My brain is spinning. Outrage at the desecration of the go boards, while a small voice keeps saying "it looks pretty cool"

Hey, that cleaned up really nicely. I was amused at the idea at first, but it looked too rough, so it came off as more gimmicky. But now, with finish and stones and such, it looks much nicer, so I wouldn't mind displaying it in my study space. Also, bonus points for having L19 displayed. =D

Thanks guys.
I made some small mistakes, but over all I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

If you put books on there, make sure to use go bowls to keep them in place :)
