Winning Go--Thanks for the great reponsce!
Hello all,
There was a great response (maybe 30 or 40 people) but we had to limit it to a half-dozen or so of various ranks. But thank you for your enthusiasm! It was appreciated.
All the best,
Peter

Can we assume that if we have not been contacted yet, that we were not among the ones chosen? I'd like to know, because I'm considering ordering it.

Has anyone received a reply? If so, that would clear up the matter for me...

I did not receive a reply, daal. Because of this, I think that it was more of a preference-based selection rather than a "first-come first-serve" type of deal.

Certainly you, Kirby, as our most prolific writer would be high on my list of preferred reviewers, so the fact that you haven't received any notification might mean that Peter hasn't sent out any notifications (yet). Like I said, I'm interested whether I've been chosen because if I haven't, I'd like to add the book to an Amazon order to get the free shipping for orders over 20 Euros.
Patience, grasshopper.

I received a reply, but replied late by a couple days. I don't know if I should be expecting a copy?

Hello all,
The dust is finally settling. Sorry, but if you didn't hear from me, then I choose someone else. I had a limited number of copies available and wanted to spread the readers out among various levels. But thanks, all, for inquiring! It was deeply appreciated.
Best,
Peter

I saw the book at Chapters today. I wasn't sure whether to buy it or not because there was no indication of the intended level of the reader. I assumed it was for complete beginners because the pronunciation of Japanese terms was spelled out ("sen-teh"). At the same time, the blurb claimed that "Winning Go is an essential tool in helping serious players master the sophisticated sequence and flow of advanced Go play", making it sound like a book for high dans about pro play.

A 7kyu player can reasonablly expect to get a lot out of the book. Some of the problems may be too dificult, but many of them will be just right.

I got a copy of it last night and started workign through it. I'm not very far into it yet but it seems like the concepts it points out should be fairly avaialble to low DDK and SDK players. However the probelms might be a little tough. I'll write up a longer review as i get further into the book.
