I won't trigger this sequence, because there's a few ways for it to go down, all dependant on your next couple moves. ;)

Ahah! he's opting to leave me aji laying around, in favour of aproaching up top. A decision I whole heartedly support, as it makes my midgame much much more exciting! Seriously, it is an option, the aji can be dealt with later, and it's possible it won't ever become a problem.

a fighting continuation goes something like this. Starts a big fight, and is fun for everyone.


I really don't know what white will do, since their fuseki choices to this point seem reasonable locally, but strange to me globally. Perhaps he's using a plan I don't fully understand yet.

So I'll just hang tight, and figure out what to do after I see what white's response is.

This is the second game where CSamurai has proposed B18 in this situation. I heartedly disagree.

This is why I think B18 is just bad. White is forced to crawl on the second line, and black can always get the atari in sente. White either gets sealed in, or white has to crawl

This is fairly standard. Apparently, white's play to this point isn't as strange as I believed, according to people stronger than I, so I suppose I just have to get used to this sort of thing when I get my nose out of theory and into actual play. It just feeels very odd for me, because I'm far more used to other fuseki as black, which of course leads to other styles of play for white.

I have to be fairly pleased with the progression so far, as it seems to favour me slightly, after this sequence is complete.

White will likely play the undercut or fix the cut, and black will settle by playing along the left. This reduces the effectiveness of white's new wall, and still leaves me the aji of my approach stone.

I'm aiming to develop fast. This gives me a chance to make a significant extension along the top side and reduce the usefulness of the upper right 4-4 stone.

i am late but i will still comment on his move for observers:
move :b7: and :b4: are not on same page.
:b7: is after points and giving up on influence
:b4: is after influence and giving up on points
it is suttle but it is very important.
i am not sure what the optimal move is but for the reason on above his move seems wrong.

Wellll, I'm a little worried now that people are commenting on my invasion. Maybe jumping out and counterpincering wound have been a better use of my 5.4 stone? I don't know.

Regardless, here we are in this game, with this line playing.

That extension is strangely narrow. Even if had really strong thickness in the lower left, it would still be too narrow. At least go TWO spaces. I have to get an extension for this group here, but taking an extension on the left side is also a very high priority for me; the little white wall from that pincer joseki in the lower left really requires that something is done with it relatively soon, otherwise it's a waste.

Alright, so, white made a move that doesn't immediately require answer, which means I can do a couple things. I'd like to get the b18 point sometime, and while it's sente, it's not a /lot/ of sente, even if white ignores it, I don't gain much from following it up, so I have opted for playing the largest side. I could approach this corner from either side, thanks to my earlier 3.3, but if I approach the bottom, I likely allow white to build strength up the left, limiting the effectiveness of my 4.4 stone. We'll see what white answers with. I'm hoping to see an extension on the bottom, but I can work with the pincers as well.

Pretty tired, not going to talk about this much. If he had played a high extension, I probably would have played a more conservative slide and extend kite joseki, but I'm trying to expand quickly.

White will probably approach the top right corner, and I'll try to use that to get a firm grasp on the right side.

If white plays along the bottom, I'll try to play up top, to reduce white's potential there.

I feel like, if the next bit is in the top right, whoever ends in stable sente will take the extension on the left side and be ahead.
Someday I want to be strong enough to earn KGS[-].
