Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
I'm up for a malkovich game, seems like it'd be fun. I'm a tygem 4d, so I don't know what that translate to, but anyone around 3-4d would be welcome. Kyu players are welcome too if anyone wants to play handi.
Nein Mann, ich will noch nicht gehen, ich will noch 'n bisschen tanzen.

Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
Hey, all I'd like to try my hand at a Malkovich game. I play Go on facebook which is basically Malkovich without the discussion. So here I am, 13-12k KGS, I'd prefer to play even(at least no stones) or against handicap.
"What makes you think I won't be seeing what you're seeing...in court."
EDIT: Of course I would never turn down a match against any rank with any number of stones.

Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
Hi DIV - I'd be interested in playing against you. I'm about the same strength - currently 12k on KGS, although I tend only to play 1 or 2 games there per week so it's a bit volatile, and it's possible that my "real" strength is a bit stronger or weaker than that. Like you, I prefer playing even games against someone of about my strength than to play handicap games, so this sounds good to me. I've been enjoying reading through the other Malkovitch games on this forum (I think it's a great idea), and think it would be fun, and hopefully instructive (if a bit scary
) to try to play one myself.

sounds good robinz, how do you feel about having open access to joseki? Also, howabout 6.5 komi and you decide what color you want to play? Japanese scoring style? all hide tags off limits? anything you feel like.

Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
I'm fine on all of that - the one bit I'm not sure about is having open access to joseki. I only learnt to play about 4 months ago, and know hardly any joseki yet - on the face of it, that sounds like it would help me if I was allowed to look them up, but I'd be worried I'd end up just playing through some sequence I find given online when I don't have a clue why I'm making those moves...
...but, hopefully I'd be able to resist that temptation, especially if I'm having to explain my thoughts to any kibitzers
So I think I'd be OK with that.
As for giving me choice of colours - that's very generous, but also makes me scratch my head, as I've never had free choice of colour before. I think I'm going to choose white, for two reasons - firstly, I'm unconvinced there's much point in komi below at least high-dan level, and certainly don't think there's much need at DDK level, so that means that playing with komi should give white a (very) slight advantage. And secondly, as I've never done one of these before, I'd rather if you made the first post
I'll try to make at least 1 move a day, possibly more - but it looks like we're in different enough time zones (I'm in the UK, and I'm guessing you're in the US) to make it unlikely we'll be able to make more than a couple of moves a day each (which I'm fine with).

I figure because I chose komi, you choose whether you'd like the benefit of first play or the number of points I chose for komi. I'll make it presently. And I'm fine with no open joseki, I think that will be more interesting, I know a few, but without is fine.
Ok, all this is Malkovich #76-robinz v. DIV

Because we're both overachievers, Marcus and I agreed to play an open Malkovich, concurrent with our other activities.

Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
Since I resigned my game with Zwergesel, I'm up for a new game with anyone +-2 stones. Expect a really quick fuseki, then really slow middle game with an early resignation! PM if you're interested.
Also willing to do another 9x9 Malkovich. My one with loons turned zombie.
