Sources to get pro games with commentary.

Post by Solomon »

Here is a list of sites that have pro games with commentary (in English) for your studying pleasures; if anyone knows any other such sites, let's hear it :).

http://www.5z.com/tucsongo/book (Go Seigen games)
http://www.go4go.net/v2 (commentary by Alexander Dinerchtein)
http://www.gobase.org (not updated much)
http://www.gogameworld.com (commentary by from other sources, which are then translated)
http://www.internetgoschool.com (contains free samples here)
http://www.kiseidodigital.com (Go World archives DVD)

It's not a regularly updated pro game commentary site, but you can get 50 commented Lee Changho games by passing a short quiz at breakfast's Lee Changho fanclub site:

http://baduk.eu/

I'm mainly listing this one because it's another free resource (minus the work you have to do to pass the test). If you like breakfast's commentaries and are willing to pay a bit of money, you can of course get a much wider selection of games at go4go.net/v2, which is already referenced above.

eidogo.com is not just a fairly decent joseki dictionary, it also has the newest games.

EDIT: oh whoops, with commentary. sorry
LoL forum:
"Complexity is Magic: The Gathering, lots of tiny rules and special cases, and basically every single card is a unique case. Depth is Go: the game has 4 rules, and it takes literally decades to learn how to play that game well."

The GoGod CD comes with about 250 commented games. About half of the commentaries are by Alexander Dinerstein, and about half by Wang Hongjun.
