When I was a kid people gave out really good treats: homemade popcorn balls, taffy apples, homemade cookies and brownies, and full size candy bars (they only cost 5 cents back then). Unfortunately those great treats wouldn't be possible today except at a party in your home, due to societal psychoses.

OMG I hate those peanut butter taffy things! Every year I'd try one or two of them just to see if maybe I liked them that time around, but no, they were always horrible.

I love Necco wafers, though! My favorite ones were the anise flavored ones, but I also really like the clove and cinnamon. In fact, when I started doing tsumego every day, I had to buy Necco wafers almost every day too for the first couple weeks, since seeing all of those little circles and imagining snapping more little circles on just made me think of Necco wafers.

So I may not be the best judge, since I'm something of a candy junkie, but I love Reese's PB cups too! And Snickers and kitkats and Milky Ways and Mars bars and all of the other things I only eat the day after Halloween any more, but Reese's have always been my favorite. I don't think you're in any danger.

@Helel: I love ginger candy! I had no idea it was popular there! I kind of want to try Turkish Pepper too now.

Aahh, it's such a shame I never get candy collecting kids because I live in a student house. I'd love to run an experiment once and give them little mandarins, just like the really old people used to do when I was a kid. Just to see how ungrateful kids will be nowadays .

People who are that paranoid should just lock their kids in the basement 24/7 so they're safe from that dangerous and cruel outside world.
