Ten percent discount on used books.

Post by Joaz Banbeck »

I was trying to look at American Book Exchange ( ABE.COM ). Their server was too busy, so they offered me the following discount code: CCTWD2. It is good for 10% off, up to 15 US dollars, until midnight of Nov 25th, 2010. I won't be using it, so I'm posting it here for the first person who wants it. If you do use it, please post here so that someone else doesn't try to use it a second time.

I've been buying on ABEBooks for years and never realized that is what it stood for.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

The name was a marketing move. This was before Amazon was a market for used books, and the biggest online used book site was Bibliofind - in Canada.

No, I believe it has always stood for "Advanced Book Exchange". And it is based in British Columbia, Canada, not in the U.S.A.

They give discount codes like that away all the time, and I'm pretty sure the codes aren't unique, and that many people can use them. I get emails from them every couple of months with that kind of discount. (I do buy through them fairly often.)
