Hi,
Can anyone recommend any distance learning based Go courses?
Thx,

Re: Go courses
What do you want?
An excellent free introductory site: 321go.org
For when you get a bit stronger: there are cheap audio lessons ($1/lesson) at audiogolessons.com
Many strong amateurs and professionals also offer private and group lessons. Hourly rates greatly vary, and this might not be what you're looking for.
Or: just post a (serious) game here and get feedback!

Dear tarmes
What is you level?
What is your aim?
Would you like human interaction? (or just replaying games, solving problems online -> http://www.goproblems.com)

Re: Go courses
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I think I'm really looking for one to one tuition where I get to play with someone who'll help me improve my game by clearing explaining my mistakes, as well as showing me new techniques etc.
I currently spend a lot of time reading various beginners books such as "Attack and Defense", and they do help, but there's nothing like the interaction you get from a real person while you're actually playing.
Now, not all good players are good teachers, so I'm looking for advice on reputable teachers, courses etc. I don't want to break the bank either - I just play for fun after all...

Re: Go courses
Guo Juan's classes are great. The group class involves weekly reviews of your games (and classmate's games of a similar level).

Re: Go courses
Guo Juan is an excellent teacher, I've always enjoyed lessons from her!
If you want a cheaper option, I can recommend a friend of mine, who goes by the nickname freegame on KGS (and here as well). IMO, he's a good teacher for kyu players and his prices a very cheap (basically he only charges to make sure the students are serious and he's not wasting his time)

Re: Go courses
At your level, I'm sure you can get 1 to 1 teaching for free, and there are quite a few good teachers on KGS who don't charge for sdks.
If you are looking to spent a little bit of money for some guaranteed quality teaching, I have a few recommendations.
If you want something good, but budget, I'd recommend Guo Juan if you're looking for a professional. Not expensive, and I think her advice is quite solid and informative.
If you're looking for a cheap strong amateur, I'd recommend our very own L19 champion, Tabemasu. I believe his rates are of the cheapest around compared to players of similar strength, plus he's a native English speaker, and a pretty good teacher.

Re: Go courses
Yilun Yang is another good pro to take lessons from. While not a pro, Yuan Zhou is quite strong (former insei) and also gives lessons on KGS.
