I often log in to KGS to watch games rather than play. And the only way to do that is to use the KGS client, even though I don't need its full power. The problem is that I often can't log in at all, because I'm using a device that doesn't have Java or I'm on a network that blocks the ports KGS uses.
It would be nice if there was a webpage where I could select one of the active games and have that games and the kibitz displayed right on the page. I understand that writing a web-based client is not Bill's priority, but displaying an active game must be pretty easy.
Am I too foolish to expect something like this in the near future?

Re: KGS TV
Excellent idea! Can't connect to KGS through my company's firewall, so a browser based solution for watching games (during lunch break, of course) would be perfect!
To sig or not to sig, that is the question.

Eventually, I do plan on writing a fully web based client. But there's a lot of other things that need to happen first, so it will take time.

The Android client is good for watching games, if you don't want to kibitz. Gets around company firewalls too

Sure. I'm not expecting a fully web based client any time soon. I'm just wondering if making a web page that shows, say, the top game might be easy. It doesn't even need to have the time counters. Just the board and the kibitz will be enough.

Re: KGS TV
Nah, you can't have TV with only one channel.
It should have at least the top 10 games, so you can channel surf.
And a "coming attractions" type channel, showing the open offers, so you can have a good idea what might be aired soon.
This would be pretty great, as I find I am watching Go a lot more than playing Go (I barely play anymore... I will get back into it, though, I promise!) I have no problem using the full client, and I can watch on the go thanks to the Android client. But a stripped down, "TV" like experience would be pretty neat.
