Automatch repeats

Post by hyperpape »

When I play automatch games, if I finish one game and restart automatch, I often just end up getting the same opponent. I don't know if that's a product of the time of day (lunch, EST), the settings (I play blitz) or if it frequently happens to everyone.

I don't mind a second game against the same opponent, but a third is a little tiresome. And I've had someone resign for just this reason.

Well it's rather likely for that to happen. If there is no matching partner already there for the first of you who asks for an automatch, and then the second one hits automatch you have a possible match which your previous opponent.
Sanity is for the weak.

Yup, and it's because it's likely, that an option to prevent it might be a nice touch.

The reason I mentioned the time of day and settings--it often happens even if I try to avoid the problem by waiting 2 or 3 minutes. Perhaps my opponent tried the same thing, but perhaps it's also just difficult to find matches.

I agree, there should be a flag that, for example prevents rematching the same person within any 24 hours - I think that's a great idea.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a way to stop this. But not in the next release - that one is almost ready and I don't want to slow it down by adding new features.

Does censoring/ignoring someone prevent meeting them in automatch? The solution is far from ideal, of
course, becuase you might forget to uncensor innocent people, etc.

Also - I'm looking forward to the upcoming release! Let me know if you want a linux-based bug/beta tester.

Yes, censoring will prevent you from meeting someone in automatch games.
