Maxim cup - Cho Cheolhan and Lee Changoho

Have a look at the two games won by Cho Cheolhan and Lee Changoho, it's fascinating. The first 11 moves are identical in each case - Black shusaku style, white 4,4 with facing 4,3. Black approaches and avoids large avalanche and extends. They differ in how far they extend, but are similar in that when w approaches the corner they use that extension as a pre-made pincer and go back to reinforce the mini-wall. White responds differently in each case, but also white wins both games. Check it out.

Heh, I've spent an hour on these two games in the last 48 hours. Interesting games weren't they! I particularly thought the lower left in Lee Changho's game was really fascinating.

That was extremely stylish. And to finish in sente too. Thanks TG! I hadn't looked at all those games (too many in one day). It does look as if black was quite passive there though. So many chances to cut and make a fight out of it... I suppose b didn't want to give w an easy chance to make life on one side or another after a cut, but when you outnumber him so much locally...
