At L19x19 time used to be displayed as UTC - 8. At least at my computer. Today I considered to complain about that, but reconsidered. But now suddenly it displays straight UTC. Hurray. If next we dispose of fahrenheit, miles, $, driving left and stick to one unique alphabet, god, calendar and human rights formulation mankind is getting somewhere;)

I find it kind of ironic that you speak of restricting choice (currency, measuring systems, religion, etc.) then state that is progress for mankind.
Anyway, you set your own time on your preference page.

Well. I was kind of ironic. I tried a smiley to indicate that. Still I prefer a world in which my fellow citizen uses the same (right) side of the road.
Thx for the tip. Hope it sticks now to UTC.mw42 wrote: Anyway, you set your own time on your preference page.

Re: think universal
Once you change your time settings in your profile it should be that way every time you sign in until you decide to change it. However, default board time is set to UTC - 8. So that time will display until you sign in.

You can also set your language - but you can only set it to British English.
Patience, grasshopper.

Re: think universal
When it comes to what the forum buttons/descriptors say, American english and British english don't really differ...

There are a great many forum goers here who would argue this.

I would disagree with what you quoted too... in full context I mentioned it with the premise of "When it comes to buttons and descriptors within the forum"....

Re: think universal
I just discovered that UTC - 8 is displayed before logging in. No use is made of the timeformat chosen in the operating system. Only after logging in it displays the personal timeformat chosen in the profile. Now I understand why it is not always the same.
I also discovered that I'm automatically logged off from the forum after being inactive for some time.

Fahrenheit, miles, and dollars all make sense, though...It's kilometers and Celsius that we need to get rid of...
Also, good luck getting people to change languages, religions, or calendars.
Only kidding here, it would, in theory be nice to have everything the same, but, alas, too many problems would come about if we changed things to a uniform standard.
My plan to become an SDK is here.
