Community Commented Games

Post by mw42 »

Hello,

I had an idea and was curious to see if there would be any interest in it: Someone posts a game that they have commented. Then another downloads and adds their comments to the .sgf file and then re-posts it. The purpose would be to get multiple perspectives and to be able to see comments on positions where you were lacking. For example, when I review games I tend to focus on the beginning and find myself lacking in explorations of the middle-game. An extra benefit for weaker players would be that a stronger player might choose to review and he might correct an error you have made in your assessment.

Anyway, I'd like to stick to a format so the comments don't become a garbled mess. Comments should be ordered by strength with the strength of the reviewer preceding all comments in parentheses. Comments specifically referring to another's comment should follow immediately in brackets with no line break. For example:
(9k) Something, something.
(2k) Something else, red is blue. [(1d) Red is not blue, red is red.]
(4d) Something profound.

If you have a question you would like to be answered, please, do not ask in the .sgf. Ask in the original post.

To begin, a game between Lee Sedol and Sun Li from the BC Card Cup. Have fun! :)

I did this via a mailing list, way back when. (1999 to be exact.) A dozen or so people, including some dans, such as DrStraw, commented on a game, with the moves presented one by one. It was interesting to see the comments from people of different strengths, and to see how they looked at the moves.
