White protecting that cut makes E15 seem less interesting. I'm taking this side point first. If white takes gote to connect, thats all the better for me.

But it still works. E15 followed by E18 looks unpleasant. Also, E15 folowed by a cut around D11/E11 leaves a large chunk in the center full of disconnected eyeless white stones.

I kinda like the way that looks. I don't think plays around E15 will kill us, so this is ok.

Might be sente, too, if they don't answer I will read deep and kill. Maybe. :twisted:

A simple play like F15 or E14 or E13 would have secured white easily, and we could slide south but they press us down so we don't go very far...

But instead, white almost forces us to play at E15. If we don't play something in the shaded area, the monkey jump at 'a' - perhaps preceded by some kakari or two - might kill us.

So if we have to play in the shaded area, E15 now has become not only the obvious attacking move but a good defending move also.

I approve.

As best I can tell, it does not threaten to kill the corner. But it does threaten to make the corner dependent on winning a ko ( we start with B19 ). The problem with that is two-fold: they have better ko threats, and if they win the ko, then their next move will be to capture our stone with A17, wrecking our eye. So it is future aji - if we get connected out, and if they build a structure in the lower left that is vulnerable to ko threats, then we can go after their corner.

Phelan fluctuates from overplaying to being really passive quite a bit. If this gets approved(which I doubt), I am debating between G17 or just skipping the preliminaries and cut at E11 directly. I think there should be some sente moves I can make against his top group more to strengthen myself though (like G17).

Mmm..I don't think 5 moves has passed since the last correction. The count should be 7 corrections for Black and 3 for White if this is the move. Are you still going forward with this Daniel?
