It's difficult for me to see the benefit of playing 2-2 in the fuseki over playing 3-3.

There isn't any. In the board position shown, black is way behind.

1) When you play against players weaker than you, many stupid moves can be very successful ;-)

2) That 4d lost to a 1 kyu playing that "successful" fuseki :lol:

I just watched it today and enjoyed the lecture. If you have KGS+ - don`t skip it. It related practically to punishing suboptimal plays and whole-board thinking, while being a little fun. A two dan (I think) present was able to answer most questions poised correctly, so more geared at kyu thinking.
