New book on ukiyo-e prints

Post by Peter Shotwell »

Hello,
I don't think it's been announced that the comprehensive book on ukiyo-e called "Japanese Prints and the World of Go" has been published by Kiseido. It's quite a book. It's also just about the only source for go ukiyo-e background now that Kiseido's art gallery has been taken down. Most of its prints appear in the book but with much added research and material.

Thanks for this, Peter. I just ordered it. Looking forward to seeing it; undoubtedly it will be some beautiful art.
I'm always looking for any go publications that i don't have, in any western language. Wanna trade or sell some?

I bought it some time ago, when it first came out. It is a great resource but, in my opinion, the reproductions in the book are not the highest quality. Everyone interested in this subject should buy the book, though, if only for the commentary.
