Malkovich 110 isn't exactly the same, Kirby uses an approach on move
just like you're suggesting. I'm not sure if you're following that game, but take a look. Any questions you might have about that game (or any other Malkovich game), don't hesitate to ask one of the players. These are supposed to be games for learning not just for the players, but for the observers as well.

Standard joseki, aiming at setting up a base for my stones on the right with an extension on move 12. If white prevents the extension, I'll attach to his komoku stone. Comfortable either way

I think the normal variation here is usually white playing (a) black responds with (b)... i dont think this changes anything much though...

Sorry, I was meaning to reply to this but forgot until just now in the shower whilst thinking about this game (well, it's better than singing, isn't it
?)
That's a very interesting thought. I'd always just thought of keeping it as a parallel fuseki since I'm still very new to the game (only been playing 2 months) - not long ago I would've been destroyed in middlegame by anyone even slightly competent.
My style also often is very moyo/influence based, so I suppose parallel fuseki support that more. I'll have an experiment with diagonal fuseki

Decided to go for the approach... there is something I wanted to use that bottom influence for... though now that i think about it more it probably isn't the best idea... as i was writing out the diagram it fell apart... I am too tired to be doing any hard thinking...
So stick to the original plan.. at least I was half way awake when i thought of it...
