Ruleset: AGA by default, arranging between players is fine too
Handicap: Handicap - 2 (see table below for handicap matchups)
Komi: 7 for even games (6 for Japanese rules), and 0 for no komi or handicap games
Main time: 40 minutes each
Overtime: 5 x 0:40 byo-yomi, or 10 stones in 5 minutes Canadian overtime

Scoring will be Herman's log scoring system. Basically, jigo is 5 points each, a 1 point difference is 6 to the winner, up to 31 or more points difference being 10 to the winner. I'll calculate each of these scores to two DP in the standings below as they fill out :)

There will be a second stage for everyone, consisting of 5 groups of 4 players (winners in top group, 2nd place in next group etc).

First round is designed to last through May, second to last through June.

Any questions?

Since redundant made 1d, I think he and stable should be switched if possible.

...because I don't want to play him.

Also, whether this happens or not- let the burning begin

I checked ranks before splitting - stable has just hit 1d, and red posted his current sit :)

Well, the groups look fun.
By the way, I'm hailthorn on KGS. the 011 was dropped off on the account because it made my name too long.

Same.

Also, for the whole group; I can play pretty much any time, PM me with a time and I'll do my best to make it.

Post the games or links to the games on here is probably easiest (and lets other people have a look at the game)

It's my first time to play in a tournament like this. Sounds fun!

My screen name is Koosh on KGS and 情朱 on Tygem.
My schedule is fairly open. If I don't hear from anyone randomly then I will send out some private messages. I am available daily during the evenings EST.

ez4u and I just played our game. ez4u won by 29.5, so I guess I did half a point better than resigning... It was close for a long time, I don't feel too bad for messing up with G4 in overtime.

It's useful to know the correct response to wA5. It can be very stressful to suddenly face a reading problem defending this move against the tripod group which most people know is alive.

Congrats both, epic game!

That's 9.93 to ez4u, and 0.07 to daniel :)

Yeah, if I hadn't known I had the connection I would have spent a period or two reading. (EDIT: and now the position is cached, hopefully!)

I'm curious what people think of the position at move 40-- Has black already fallen behind a little? Did I make the right weak group on the bottom? Did I handle it ok? My own perception was that I must have screwed up the lower right joseki. By move 83 I thought I'd caught up and it was about even. But white made all the right choices and made more points on the top and side than I expected. Actually at move 99 I thought I had a very promising position, but I was out of time-- did white pull a fast one there or was I just optimistic?

It seems that the game was played with the wrong komi, 0.5 instead of 0 (as is in the rules for the tournament). So actually it was a 29 point victory, not 29.5, right? Which would mean 9.91 and 0.09 points to the players. Or does the komi as used stand, even if it is wrong?
