Online TD needed for SAMG qualifier

Post by shapenaji »

The AGA is looking for a tournament director and a website manager for the qualifier for the following event:

Sport Accord Mind Games

The event is held from December 8 to 17, 2011, at the Beijing Convention
Center. Six teams will play: China, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei
(representing Asia-Pacific), US (representing the Americas), European Union
(representing Europe).

There are two medal items, team and pair go. Teams are made of five
members, at least one must be female. Pair will be formed FROM THE TEAM
MEMBERS. Teams play round-robin on December 9-11 and 13-14; pairs play
single-elimination on December 15-16.

For all players, airfare, hotel, meals, and local transportation are paid by
SportAccord. In addition, there is substantial cash prize. Each team is
guaranteed at least 10,000 USD (top prize 80,000 USD); each pair is
guaranteed at least 2,000 USD (top prize 12,000 USD).

----

AGA is requested to form a team, its members may be either professional or
amateur. The selection method is AGA's choice. THE MEMBERS MUST SUBMIT
REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND PASSPORT PHOTOCOPY TO SPORTACCORD BY AUGUST 31,
2011.

All selected players must be US citizens with one possible exception: AGA
may choose to include players from another American country (or countries),
then the players selected must be citizen of that country. In any case, ALL
PLAYERS ON THE TEAM WILL PLAY UNDER THE US FLAG AND ANTHEM. The latter is
required to conform to the Olympic model that SportAccord follows.

Respond by IM if interested, the TD position would involve organizing matches on KGS and working the logistics for pairings and announcements,

In the way of compensation, we are looking at offering lessons from stronger players in return for time spent working on these!

Call it a "Thank you" from the 6d and above crowd for helping out.

I know two folks already willing. I'd like to make a tradition out of this, where TD's are offered something for their not insubstantial time commitment. As far as I can tell, since money is off the table, the only thing the strong players have to offer is their own time.
