IIRC this tournament is to win the right to challenge Tabemasu for the title.

I was thinking this worked like the Japanese title games-- the winner of the tournament earns the right to challenge the current titleholder. :)

Edit: ninja'd.
That which can be destroyed by the truth should be.

Huh, I ctrl-C'ed this to reply to Dusk Eagle, but now I see Joaz has edited it out of his post.

Winners of lower and upper bracket play best-of-three, with the lower bracket entrant having one loss when starting. Winner of that then plays the current champ, Tabemasu, for all the marbles.

Thanks, JTS. Yes, I wrote the above, and a whole bunch of other stuff about the tournament structure. Then we had one last entrant, so I had to redo the pairings. I deleted a bunch of stuff about pairing, and will be reinstating it, just slightly differently. ( Oddly enough, one extra 4D makes the tournament one round shorter )

This time, I'll be a bit smarter. I won't try to post any of the revised stuff until registration is completely over.

But regardless, the portion quoted above won't change.

The one way that the quote might not be true is if Tabemasu does not show. He hasn't been here for months. If we can't find him, or if he isn't interested, then the challenger will be the champ by forfeit.

Tabemasu just posted something a couple days ago. He's like the wise hermit in the forest. He only comes out every couple of months, but when he does, heed his words.

We still have room for one more person. I'll probably close registration this afternoon.

in light of recent developments and extreme fear of sandbagging, i'd like to change my entry to 1d, since that is what my current kgs rank has become, although it just happened, but again, extreme fear of sandbagging.

Laman, 2d

my rank currently somewhat oscillates between 1d and 2d after my long inactivity, so just give me whatever can do less harm
Spilling gasoline feels good.

I might be wrong, but probably not.
