Chinese Magnetic Rollup set

Post by Phelan »

I have one of these sets, bought in China, but I would like to buy a few from Europe. I've tried contacting the owners, but have had no reply yet. Is there some place in Europe I can get them?

Thanks!

P.S. Ouch at the price, though. Mine was much cheaper.

There's so few retailers in Europe. Hebsaecker seems cheapest and most complete but you're right. I understand that a base level set of yunzi stones cost about 0.5 Euro in China but in Europe identical sets come in at 30 Euro.

I had the choice of a good go board and stones as a friend was going to China but by the time I costed everything in (big boards are heavy) it wasn't worth it and had to go European...

I could get this set. It'll only cost me €14 + shipping, VAT, and some minor extra charges; say a total cost of €20/set.
So why more than double this price when sold to end users?

The problem is that I'd have to buy 200 sets, which means it'll take years to sell them all, and during that time the money is locked up (kind of like a bank deposit without any interest and no way to spend it on "better things"), and space to keep them is needed.

So from a importer/seller view, I don't think €44 is that much

BTW In 2005 I believe I saw this set in China for €10, but a couple of years later about €15, so my guess is that €20 is a OK local Chinese price today and shipping of one set may be €20-30. That is, if you find a way of buying one :-)

Het Paard in Amsterdam (http://www.schaakengo.nl/) might have something like that too. Not everything they have is on their website, but you can always email them!
