Sometimes I wish that in addition to "report" and "like" we had a "whiny" option.

It's only constructive if you take part and then have criticism. So far all of your criticism has been what you perceive rather than experience. That makes it very weak.

What have I criticized that wms has not confirmed in this very thread?

Your assertions about turn based servers not having enough players and that the rules matter very much at all.

I don't think you've been very constructive. This may not be what you intend, but you really come off with a "my way or no way" attitude in my opinion. You refuse to play with any rulesets other than New Zealand (and perhaps a few other esoteric ones). You refuse to try out any turn-based Go server because of the above and because you feel it will be harder to find a game (though you haven't actually tried it). You said in this very thread that you "hate all Go servers" yet you admit that you haven't really tried many at all yet (your KGS account doesn't have any games after February on it, unless you have another one). Seriously, you refuse to play in a house, you refuse to play with a mouse, you refuse to play here or there, you refuse to play anywhere. You do not like them, so you say. Try them! Try them! and you may. Try them and you may I say.

I've read SL enough to know that IGS is the most active, then KGS - therefore, turn-based servers are less active. But yes, that isn't really a problem when one can, unlike KGS, wait for an opponent without staying logged in.

I never said the rules matter in practice. I said I prefer the closest thing to my ruleset, and I don't need to play on a server to figure out the rulesets it uses. I just find it sad that KGS, with a couple tweaks that may never happen, could allow a good turn-based system as well.

There may be more players on KGS, but:

1) You will get more games than you can possibly play on OGS (I don't know about DGS), especially if you participate in tournaments or the ladder.

2) If you insist on playing _your_ ruleset and can't be bothered to learn a more common one, then the number of players willing to play against you will be tiny, whether it is KGS or any other server.

Most people jump between different rulesets all the time and have no issue with it (and it really doesn't matter aside from tiny exceptions), so if you are not willing to do that, you have nobody to blame for your bad experience but yourself.

I understand your perspective, Mr. Mormon. There are things that I would like to change about a go server, as well. I know that such requests or concerns are often met with opposition.

The other side of the story, though, is that we as users have little power in decisions that will be made. So even if you feel passionately about something, unless you make your own server (for example), you'll sometimes just be met with disagreement - even if you make rational points. Further, people are offering solutions to your problem, which seem feasible to possibly work.

That said, I think it's perfectly fine to continue to complain about things on the forum, even if others don't agree with you. You are free to your own opinion just as much as others are. :-)

Please don't insult me - I never said, nor do I want to play my ruleset to avoid learning others. I wish more people on forums were like Kirby.

Nevertheless, wms doesn't have to fulfill easy visions that aren't his, so I'll have to keep looking.

My apologies, I misunderstood this quote as "I don't need to play on a server where I have to figure out which rulesets it uses". I see now what you actually meant.

In that case though, even less reason not to play turn based games on OGS. :)

Of course, but since this is the internet, we will say when your opinions are wrong. :)

KGS and IGS may have larger user bases than OGS, but everyone on OGS is looking to play turn-based games, whereas very few people are looking to do that on KGS. So, for what you want, OGS probably has a lot more users than KGS does (I can't speak for IGS).

I'm glad to hear that OGS is so popular, but I'm considering DGS too.

BTW, hijacked?
