Go Consultants and Learn to Play Go in SmartGo Books

Post by smartgo »

We've added one of my all-time favorite Go books to SmartGo Books: The Go Consultants by John Fairbairn and T Mark Hall, published by Slate & Shell. It's a single game between two teams (Go Seigen and Kitani Minoru versus Segoe Kensaku and Suzuki Tamejiro) discussed in detail from multiple perspectives.

We've also added the first three volumes of Janice Kim's Learn to Play Go (volumes IV and V to be added later). And we recently added Modern Master Games: The Dawn of Tournament Go by Rob van Zeijst and Richard Bozulich. For a complete list of the 18 books now available in SmartGo Books, see http://smartgo.com/booklist.htm

Thanks to imabuddha for much of the work of converting these books to electronic form. More great works are in the pipeline.

(SmartGo Books is a free app for iPad and iPhone; books are available through in-app purchase. Unlike PDF, you can adjust fonts and layout, and directly replay moves in the diagrams.)

The Janice Kim books are also noticeably cheaper than the print versions (at least in Europe). Less than half the price.

The SmartGo Books library is growing nicely. I hoping for the Elementary and Get Strong At series, too, but I guess that depends a bit on how well the new Kiseido title sells?
