I first ran into go after getting bored of chess about 8 or 9 years ago on Yahoo. That stint with the game lasted about eight games, and I went back to chess. At that time, chess was the better game. I knew how to play it, and most of all I understood how to win.
Then about a year and a half ago, I got into go after watching Hikaru No Go, probably like most people here. As an avid chess person, I was simply awed by the complexity of the game. After I finished Hikaru No Go, I found KGS and IGS and I registered on both, and downloaded everything I could find about go.
A friend bought me a go board and some stones for Christmas last year, but sadly I haven't found anyone that actually knows how to play the game in person yet.
Hopefully, I can get better at go, but I hate losing (and I'm fairly competitive). Oh well, I think I'm going to have to get over that to get stronger. The learning curves are just against me.
