Malkovich registration - sign up here to play
Want to play a Malkovich game? Post in this thread. ( Not Big Brother Malkovich, there is a separate thread for that: http://lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=735)
Any strength is ok. Be prepared to devote about 1/2 hour per day to it. You will learn a lot about how you play when you have to explain your reasoning.
To join in, just post in this forum your strength, and the range of strength that you are willing to play against. Settle the details such as handicap, komi, etc by PM, then go start your thread. Please number them in sequence so that observers can keep track of which ones they are following.
For the next available number, check the latest posts in this thread.
The best games seem to occur when each player takes the time to fully explain his reasoning. Often this is done at a pace of one move per day. IMHO, rushed games are far less useful for the observers.
How to start notes
You'll have to reach some kind of agreement on several issues, such as komi, handicap, ruleset, open book or not. Vap and I talked about the issue of terminating the game if it reaches a boring yose and the number of viewers drops. [ EDIT: You should probably also talk about allowing or not allowing takebacks, and how long each player is expected to take - does your opponent mind if you take a week off for exams or your grandson's graduation. ]
The first post should be the first move, an introduction of the players, and a brief explanation of what you are attempting to do. I'd recommend including a link to a completed game so that a newby can understand by example.
The second post should be an introduction by the second player.
When you introduce yourselves, please include your rank.
( For the sake of continuity, I recommend a note in the first post that says: "Please do not post here until player #2 posts his first move". Once player #2 posts, then player #1 can go back and edit it out. This ensures that the first two posts introduce the two players. )

I accept Araban's challenge
.. or someone else's. I play around 1k-1d on KGS. I won't be super fast, maybe a couple moves/sequences per day.

Speed is not a virtue for Malkovich players. Please do not feel that you have to post more than once every other day.

Re: REGISTRATION - sign up here to play
Hello,
On GD I was just a silent reader, but I'd like to be more active in the community here and trying a Malkovich game to introduce myself and learne hopefully a lot seems a fine way to do it.
I'm currently 9k KGS (probably more around 10k, differs a bit, which seems quite usual in these ranks). Some informations:
Cheers,
Mic(hael)

I'm currently 9k KGS (probably more around 10k, differs a bit, which seems quite usual in these ranks). Some informations:
- I'm a bit unexperienced using the forum and Malkovich games in general, so be patient if you are my opponent

- A move every other day seems fine to me. More seems too much, because I can't gurantee it due to work etc...
- Any strength seems fine, even though I'd prefer a stronger opponent.
- I would probably dislike opening books and other help.
- My current worst habit is to play without thinking enough (or at all) on KGS; I hope to cure it using this style of play!
Cheers,
Mic(hael)
Go is easy: don't play bad moves.

I saw this in one of your other comments too - I demand to see a picture or video of the pee pee dance at once!

Re: REGISTRATION - sign up here to play
I have some sort of weird joke alzheimers, where I forget that I've already made a joke before. Anyhow, it's just an expression of my anxiousness.
