Seeking Bowls for Phoenix 10mm stones

I just got 10mmx22mm bi-convex Korean Glass stones (often sold as "Phoenix glass Go stones").

These are most often sold with light/golden Spruce go bowls.

I really like the matte/satin finish with a tiny amount of red tint style and finish of these go bowls:

Anyone know where I can get these in the USA?

And if the bowls will fit the stones?

If their description is accurate,

Each bowl approx. 16cm in diameter, 6.5cm deep. Suitable for storing full set of Go stones up to 10mm.

then they should have no problem storing all your 10mm glass stones. Happy holidays.

Since you asked for a source in the US, may I suggest Yutopian as a likely prospect. They carry a "shin-kaya" (aka spruce) bowl set size "large" that would easily hold your 10mm stone set (currently 5% off at $56, https://www.yutopian.com/yutop/cat?product=BK355&category=B). That said, these are "Kitani" style, and the UK bowls you reference are "Go Seigen" style; Yutopian also carries large bowls in Go Seigen style, but in lacquered Ash wood, and these are a slightly reddish brown color (not on sale, but only $40 https://www.yutopian.com/yutop/cat?product=BK310&category=B). Thanks for mentioning the style, I hadn't known the name. I wish yutopian provided pictures. Only one out of eight bowls offered there has a picture.

True, that is a weakness of Yutopian, they don't have a lot of pictures for their items, unlike their compatriots Yellow Mountain Imports, which has pictures and user comments for its wares. That said, I have an earlier edition of Yutopian's lacquered wood bowls and I like them very much; they are also Ash wood in the Go Seigen style, but in a lighter brown with no red cast to the wood-tone. The lacquered bowls let the wood grain show through a bit more than the darker Mahogany wood bowls Yutopian carries (those have a picture on their website .

I have been happy purchasing items from Yutopian, so I believe you will be pleased if you decide to purchase from them. Yutopian is also one of the few importers of Korean go goods to the US, and since Phoenix glass stones are Korean (correct me if I am wrong) the stones will just feel "right" in a Korean bowl You could add a Korean made board, and all will live in harmony...

AFAIK, those two names were coined by Janice Kim (who used to have a website that sold Go equipment, but no more).
In Japan, they would not know the two names. ( -- Others please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks.)

Interesting proposal for a first usage. I have no interest myself in the origin of such terms but I'm interested in the scholarly process of hunting them down. I cannot be certain because I was not taking notes a tthe time, but I remember when Janice's site went live. The announcement was made on ye olde usenet rec.go threads. When I saw the photos and her descriptions, I remember thinking, "Oh, that's what the names mean. Hmm, I have one set of each. Cool." So my impression was that I had seen the masters' names used previously as descriptive of the bowls' shapes.

I'm not contesting the claim you're making, merely suggesting more research is in order. If Janice, or her merchandise buyer or web designer, has coined the terms, it's worth credit on a wiki and the origin should be properly attributed in future books.

Well my equipment is certainly better than my knowledge of go so I wouldn't assume much of my go skill at all.
