At the moment, all I can say is that negotiations are ongoing. I'm very excited about the possibility. I'll post more news in this thread as I become aware of it.
(I previously had mentioned this in another thread, I think it deserves its own post.)

I didn't use a descriptive title, but the same article is linked in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5208.

Re: American Go Professional Certification program
According to my contact in the AGA board of directors, this will take place the week before congress, in the same place, starting this year. This was in October right before they had a meeting to discuss whether it will be swiss or double elimination. I have not contacted her since, but due to circumstances that might have me working in japan in a few months, I am not as concerned about the pro system in America.
If this becomes finalized please do try you best to make it as a pro, and I wish everyone the best of luck in their endeavors on one of life's road's known as Go.

Re: American Go Professional Certification program
with the first pro tournament planned for the week prior to this year's go congress... what are the rules? have been posted anywhere yet?
I know several qualifying tournaments are already planned, but shouldn't the rules be posted somewhere first? maybe I've missed it.

Re: American Go Professional Certification program
So, hey, if Chun-hong Chen hadn't lost that round 4 game at the Cotsen during the boyomi yosei play and had gone 1-2 with Calvin Sun in round 5, what would've happened to the seed into the Pro Qualifier? I mean, Chung-hong is a visiting professor from Taiwan who plays at our Go Club. Would his winning have kicked somebody out of their chance to play, or would the seed have dropped to the #3 player?
