Throwing away useless stones

Post by tchan001 »

Many beginners have probably heard about the need to save key stones and throw away useless stones. Here is a recent game of mine where I let the opponent capture some useless stones and got a lot in return. Still has lots of mistakes in the game but just wanted to use it to illustrate the principle.

Unrelated, but... FYI, the G14 group was hanging for a long time

Take a look at what happens if he plays A15 instead of A13...

EDIT: You might also want to point out exactly which stones you threw away, it's not entirely clear to me which part of the game is illustrative of that. And it would be harder for someone not familiar with the concept...
Tactics yes, Tact no...

Thanks shapenaji, that would be bad indeed.

The group I'm mainly referring to is the N11 group which White was so determined to capture.
