Hi,
I'll be leaving Vancouver on March 10th for a short exchange to Cuba. My group will have the opportunity to visit a few Cuban schools and orphanages to drop off supplies and gifts. I'm hoping to be able to introduce Go to the kids - I don't have too much room, but so far I'm looking to bring 5-10 9x9 boards printed on paper from a pdf file (Thanks to Chuck from the CGA), and some plastic stones. What I still need is a set of Spanish game instructions. It's likely that I will only have enough time to drop off the equipment, so I won't be able to stick around and teach the kids (the language barrier is a small problem also). Does anyone know where I can find a Spanish introduction to Go? Or better yet, is anyone able to translate?
Also, if anyone knows of any Go clubs near Havana, I'd greatly appreciate you sharing. I haven't been able to contact the Cuban Go Association.
Thanks
Nik

Re: Go in Cuba?
A little googling reveals...
I checked Argentina, Spain, Chile, and found this. I'm not sure if there's a printable PDF anywhere.
I think these are the rules of Atari Go (i.e. Capture Go) in Spanish (from Chile go club site)
http://clubtengen.blogspot.com/p/aprende-go.html
Also, from the interactive way to go project
http://www.thinkchile.com/playgo/

Re: Go in Cuba?
Google translate from http://juegosdetablero.tripod.com/gocuba.html
------------
I make the second to our friends in Cuba.
The Cuban Federation of Go is new, but the Go is practiced in Cuba since 1989 when it created the first club in the University of Havana. employ around fifty members and registered with the Sports Institute (INDER) what they represents government support. That is, are supported television, were opening (perhaps already working) an Academy Go, have their Cuban Gazette Go and a "modest" game schedule with four championships (or more) in the year.
The main difficulty that, like all of us, is to get games and books.
The President is Rafael Torres Miranda. The last address I have is:
Calle 110 - No. 304 - Apt.4 e/3ra. 3ra.A and
Playa Miramar - Havana
The phones are more secure:
53-7-241734/53-7-240278/53-7-240967
Fax: 241800
Regards,

Re: Go in Cuba?
I wish you good luck and I hope you won't get arrested because of helping the enemy. After all what evil could happen to the USA if the Cubans would learn to think strategicallyNikolas73 wrote:Hi,
