Invincible - question about the physical book

Hello there. Did a search for this but had no luck.

I'm thinking of buying Invincible. I'm wondering whether to spend a bit more to get the hardback.

Does anyone have the paperback? Can it be laid flat fairly easily? Is it the same size as the hardback? Does anyone think the hardback is worth the extra cash?

I can get the paperback for 30 quid or the hardback for 50, so I'm wondering if the extra money is worth it. All views appreciated.

I love my paperback edition...but I bought it in high school, when I was quite poor. (by which I mean even poorer than I am now ;-)

I own the paperback version and it can't be laid flat fairly easily. On the other hand I don't (and didn't) use the book very often, so maybe it gets easier over time without woring out so much.

If you want to work a lot with this book and if you want it to be fine and good-looking after several years of usage, then buy the hardback. Universal truth for all books =D

Of course it also depends on the binding quality. I have bound several paperback books out of printed stuff (and one or two hardbacks, binding a hardback is hard

) and I have seen hardbacks that would stand far less than some of my paperbacks (even without being any special at all): good hardback binding for laying flat (with floating spine) is harder to come by these days, where the cloth used in the spine is of lower resistance. I have not seen the hardback of Invincible close, so I don't know how good it is. But in any case, paperback is more likely to break along the spine after flat-folding

I have an extra hardback copy I'm planning to sell. It's from the first print run, overall good condition. I'm not sure how much shipping from the US would be though. (it's not a light book)

Instead of laying it flat and wearing out the binding, you can also buy one of those cook book stands to hold the book open and upright while you play through the games. It works well and is better for your posture if you replay a lot of games.

I have the paperback version, which I also bought when I was a poor student. I've played through it a lot of times (~10) and it's holding up ok. It's the same content, so it depends on whether you want it as a study book or a coffee table book

If you're in the UK, buying books from us could save you on postage because we have a warehouse there. Invincible is a heavy book that weighs almost a kilo. That said, we don't currently stock the hardcover version (should we?).

£30 is quite good though if that's all inclusive? How are you getting it at that price? Kiseido usually dictate the price that their books have to retail at.

Ha, sorry for delay...the paperback is available from The Trading Centre for £32, pretty good. I decided to go for the paperback since it's so much cheaper, and it's the content I'm interested in.

It looks like the £32 doesn't include shipping and handling after all, so if you haven't ordered yet and you're concerned about the price, I think you'd find that you'd save about £6 getting it from us. The book would ship from near London and you'd get it within a few days. Our price will fluctuate slightly with the exchange rate (because we trade in USD), but you can double check for yourself. Of course, if you can actually walk into that shop and buy it, that would save money too and you'd get it straight away
