Please review this IGS game.
I am white. There is no komi (my opponent is a half-stone below me on the ratings) and I managed to win by many, many moku. I chose this game because it's a recent one and documents the very first time I have killed with a bent-four in the corner... ever. I don't think it is a particularly brilliant game. I clicked through it and spotted at least one huge overplay on my part.
Right... that's two wins in a row on IGS, back to KGS for a while...

Quick comments:
It's harder to critisize won games: your opponent didn't provide a real challenge in much of this game.
In the opening: your result in the upper left was bad.
Play W8 at c15 to take the corner and make B overconcentrated.
W10 should not tenuki, the hane at c18 is big
After B25, Black has spent one more move than you locally, but has maybe 15 points more than you, plus your group is undercut.
B129 at a4 would have lived. I think you could kill more cleanly by playing W122 at a4 (read up on the L group).

Well I heard bent four in the corner is dead but in your game at the very end it looks like a seki, white can turnit into a ko but I don't think it is actually dead. Well I should note that I'm reeeaaally bad at l&d, if I'm wrog then please correct me.
But White won even if the corner was alive.

Black normally plays Q7 or N4, I was told that a move like
is bad to play too early (Q3 is the same).

It is dead for the very reason you pointed out - white can turn it into a ko. And since white can wait until the end of the game when there are no ko threats left on the board, white is guaranteed to win the ko, which is why the group is deemed to be dead.blade90 wrote:Well I heard bent four in the corner is dead but in your game at the very end it looks like a seki, white can turnit into a ko but I don't think it is actually dead. Thanks, all.
Sverre, you're right. Move 122 should have been at A4. (I spent a while looking at this corner after the game was over because I was left with an uneasy feeling. I got lucky.)
