Re: Kirby's Study Journal
Willpower maintained to play a second day in a row. Check.
Win the game... Not check.
Enjoyed the game. Double check.
Rating: I rate this game 7/10, even though my reading was off. I misread the top left to think I was alive, which was silly, and I made some other silly mistakes. Nonetheless, I felt in the zone more often than I have been lately, and for that, I'll give myself a good rating.
Here's the sgf:
Incidentally, since I spent additional time thinking today, I don't have time for all of the Elf stuff and diagram analysis. I did put a few comments throughout the game.
Main things I would point out are:
1.) Misreading the top left status was pretty noob of me.
2.) I thought his move on the second line to initiate the attack on the top left was nice. It's a shape I kind of "know", but don't *KNOW*. Hopefully this experience will help me to *KNOW* it better.
Frustrating to lose again, but I had a winning streak before, so I don't feel that bad. And I was in the zone for awhile this game, even if that's hard to believe. And that felt pretty good.

And of course, I didn't even remember what color I played in the review :-p
I played as white, of course - not black!

Re: Kirby's Study Journal
I'm exhausted today. I stayed up late on Tuesday night, and I had a 5am exercise class in the morning. I did a few go problems in the morning, and at lunch, but didn't feel like playing today.
But I wanted to keep the momentum going, so I played a game on Tygem.
Day 3: Game for the day, 3rd in a row, check.
I wasn't thinking as deeply as yesterday, and I was too busy for this game - I had like three weak groups simultaneously at one time. I wasn't having a consistent strategy. My opponent, accordingly, took the lead.
Then, at the last minute, he got psyched out or something, and let me capture a group of his stones that I put in atari - pretty sure he can just connect and be fine, though, maybe there's small aji. I don't think I could have done anything.
Anyway, that put me ahead by 1.5 points. But I was playing on my phone, and it gave me a message saying the score may be incorrect, and somehow it put the score at B+0.5. Here is the game:
I've been losing for the past few days in a row. Prior to that, I had a long winning streak when I was playing morning games at 6am, though, with many of those games, I just had some win by luck.
Maybe, somehow, I'm luckier when I'm tired. Oh well. I don't feel great about how busy I was with all of my groups this game, but I'm satisfied that I at least played a game.
And it's a bit petty, but I'm happy to break my losing streak, even if it was my opponent losing sanity for a minute.

Played a lot at the club today. I won't transcribe the games here.
Just checking in to say my streak of playing games every day continues.

Re: Kirby's Study Journal
Friday night. Didn't feel like playing, but next weekend is the Cotsen, so have got to keep going.
I played on Tygem, and won. I can't say the quality of the game was all that high. He was kind of crazy, and I was pretty sloppy.
Anyway, here is the SGF;

Re: Kirby's Study Journal
My biggest takeaway from this game is here:
I think my peep is questionable. Let's rate it 35/100. But after he responds, the push and cut is even worse: It just gives him forcing moves where he's weak.
To be honest, I don't really know where I should play. I'm thinking between these two options:
and maybe to help the group on the left:
Not sure, though.

Re: Kirby's Study Journal
Haha, I just looked at this with Elf, and I see that I missed an atari:
I could have just captured his stones. Hehe.
This game was ridiculous.

How about cutting the sector line?

And, yes, about D5. That's what I meant earlier about the atari. Was totally blind to it during the game.

You mean instead of the peep? Probably a better line of thinking.Bill Spight wrote:F-06 - K-05.Kirby wrote:Thanks for the comment. Which sector line?Bill Spight wrote:How about cutting the sector line?
