Fitrah on the move

Post by John Fairbairn »

Rafif Shidqi Fitrah, just turned 22, has rewarded faith in him in the Nihon Ki-in's scheme of special recommendations for foreigners. He was thus made 1-dan in 2020 but has now progressed to 2-dan on the basis of winning 30 games.

Fitra was born in Indonesia but was brought up in Japan, where is father is an engineer.

Something just clicked as I checked SL. He's self taught? I'm officially impressed.

Take care

Was he accepted on the basis of test games with selected pros or winning high level amateur tournaments?

Online playing schedule: The OGS data looks pretty so I'll pause for now before I change it.

As far as I'm aware, it's winning over half of your games in the open professional exam.
