Tsunami Relief Tournament

I am urging the Go community of New York (and the surrounding areas) to join us at the Earthquake Relief Tournament on April 23rd 2011.

All proceeds from the event will go towards relief efforts to help the victims of the recent earthquake/tsunami that devastated Japan.

Though all the details have not yet been worked out, we are announcing the tournament now. Mark your calendars.

So far what is known:

Location: Somewhere in NYC. The venue options are being explored now.

Date: April 23rd 2011

Time: round 1 at 10 am

Entry fee: $15+ students $20+ adults. (minimum price, up to you if you want to donate more. 100% of fees/donations we receive will be donated to relief organizations)

There will be 3 rounds. All games will be AGA rated.

Prizes: We will have book prizes, however there will not be any cash prizes. There will be some teaching games with pro's as prizes. More info as I know more.

The YMCA in long island city (15 min from Times Square) has agreed to lend us their 'multipurpose room"

Well unfortunatly, the YMCA retracted its offer to let us use their space. However, we do have a different location that has been confirmed.
