[Dusk Eagle]

My favorite game has to be this classical game between Huang Longshi and Jiang Tianyu. The video commentary is some of the best I've ever seen, and Huang Longshi's use of influence in the match is astounding, and has lots I can learn from.

More recently, I stumbled across the game below from an article on Sensei's. It doesn't have commentary, so it's a bit harder to understand, but I love black's sacrifice in the top-left, white's escape from the bottom-left, and the way black doesn't seem concerned about his bottom territory toward the end of the game.

I enjoy viewing Lee Sedol's games.

Actually, I saw one played where it showed the actual players and such and that was really fun to watch. The quality was great, I'd even say it was professional sports game quality.

I just can't seem to find more games like that. It was just the one.

Here are two recent games by two of the strongest players in go (Lee Sedol and Lee Changho). I look at a lot of pro games and these two really jumped out at me for Sedol and Changho's ability to clearly outplay fellow 9dans. I especially enjoyed Sedol's development on the bottom and left sides early in the game. Enjoy.

This is a game from one of my Favorite players, Honinbo Dosaku. It is his lifetime masterpiece.

(wiki: Dōsaku was the fourth Hon'inbō, fourth Meijin and a go saint (Kisei) by the time he was 23. He started to learn go at 7. Dōsaku was so strong by the time he was in his early 20's that even if someone played the first move, he would always win. Rumors were that he was two stones stronger than any other go player. This was due to his deep thinking and next-level tactics. Players today can thank him for founding what is known today as modern opening strategy.)

The player here is not Yusui Sanchi (no such name exists in go), the game was actually on 5 January 1684 and it looks like the wiki could do with a spring clean. Dosaku was 33 when he became Meijin-Godokoro (born 1645, accepted as MG 1678), and the appellation as Gosei was made by later generations.

But it's topical in that the WAGC is being held in his home area. The Yamasaki family from which he comes still seems to be prominent and it looks like the WAGC players will be getting some sort of tour of "Dosaku Country". The board and stones he first played with have been preserved.

BTW the Castle Game above is the one that started the tradition of losing a 2-stone game by 1 points as one's "masterpiece".

I had forgotten about the faulty sgf. Of course the name wasn't Yusui, but Yasui and probably sanchi not shunchi, though I can't recall it but this seems more likely

Btw it's very interesting to note how some go equipment of both Dosaku and Shusaku has been preserved.
