Suggestion: New title for banned users

Post by schultz »

Hopefully just a simple request here: could we have a standard message that a user's title is changed to when they are banned?

I know of at least one case where a user was banned (obvious troll is obvious) and a comment was made about it in one thread this person was "participating" in, but none of the others. I find it useful to see in a more permanent fashion that a user has been given the axe.

Maybe some thing like "Forum+R" or some other Go themed title? ;)

Hopefully this doesn't need to be used (often), but as we continue to grow, we're going to get the occasional user who needs to get the harsh treatment.

They can always just create another user, so I don't think it is a good idea to build a 'hall of fame' for them - that's how they might see it.

Better ignore the troll as much as possible.

They can do that anyway; and there are different ways of banning people that make it "harder" to create another user.

I mainly like this because it helps keep the users informed. I have also seen this used on other forums, larger than L19, without the "hall of fame/shame" response (sharkyforums fish/shark themed titles had an associated "Sleeps with the Fishes" that I remember to this day, main reason why I thought of this).

Eh, just my opinion. If people don't like it we don't have to do it. ;) (Even if I don't completely agree, I appreciate the fast feedback. :))

I mostly agree with SpongeBob, but how often do you get to use the phrase "Off Board Tenuki" and have it be a pun?
That which can be destroyed by the truth should be.

How would it encourage them for it to read "banned" where the rest of us have "lives in sente" and the like?
